How to Batch Render in Premiere Pro – Sort of….

In this Premiere Pro tutorial we discuss how to batch render multiple sequences in Adobe Premiere Pro.  You may be thinking, I didn’t think you could that!  And you are right.  It is a bad shortcoming in the software.  And until Adobe fixes it.  Here is a work around that just might speed up your workflow and get you home earlier.

Now some people will site the fact that Premiere Pro doesn’t NEED to render to play most things back, so WHY render?  This isn’t FCP7, and it doesn’t think the same way, so why do it?  Well for that answer, check out this post.  To make a long story short, rendering to a high quality preview codec can make it much quicker to export files (read the post above for info), layoff to tape, and finish your job sooner!  Sometimes, as editors, we are slammed doing wall to wall editing all day.  And in that case, you may not have time render.  Other times, we are waiting for comments, eating lunch, and taking conference calls, so by all means, lighten your export times for later in the day by doing this!

Now back to this tutorial, please note involves a third party application called QuicKeys ($59.95 at the time this was written).  reTooled.net has no ties to QuicKeys, and perhaps there are programs that do it for free, but this is the one that I use and it works well.  If you are interested in purchasing or trying QuicKeys, check out their site here.

If you want a copy of my preset, you can download it here.  Check out the video for a more detailed look at how it works.

If you are like me and think that Premiere Pro would desperately benefit from REAL batch rendering, well then let Adobe know by clicking here.

UPDATE: This has been fixed in the Premiere Pro CC 7.1 Update. You can now batch render for real!

Great Tute Josh, as a tip, I use Camptasia for mine and i set my screen to 1600 by 728 or something like that, i think you using 1920 by 1080 you may try that so we can see more of the interface writing.

    Thank you Josh

Julio, just out of curiosity, what part of the interface were you not able to see. I will try to adjust accordingly.
